Canada's Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Showdown With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their first Fall Classic following the 1993 season by defeating the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, the team that is the reigning title, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an incredible feeling."

Springer has now connected for 23 total playoff homers, placing him third in history trailing only Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another person on planet Earth that I want up in that spot besides Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a championship series.

Wilson stated "certainly that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this game," he remarked.

Toronto claimed the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will welcome the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
