Football Analyst Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game winning streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international hiatus, however can the English top division frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, fans and a variety of guests.
In the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Soccer and Parenting Experiences
Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."
The singer and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend soccer team," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this game will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they do look strong again.
The Hammers' sole on the road victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest coach.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?
I will choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three in their past four games.
A family member told me to select Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.
Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
They have not had much fortune on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently strong at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
They have got lots of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.
As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.
The away side's display in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of last month.
But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's home record, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
