Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
