Over 36,000 people have evacuated from Sudan's Kordofan territory east of Darfur beginning Saturday, as stated by the UN's migration organization.

The important central zone between the country's Darfur areas and the capital region has during recent weeks become the recent fighting area in the two-year civil war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary group.

Massive Displacement Statistics

An estimated 36,825 people evacuated from five districts in North Kordofan state between 26 October and 31 October, as reported by the International Organization for Migration.

The civilians, primarily walking, traveled to Tawila, a town west of El Fasher that is currently accommodating over 652,000 refugees.

Heightened Forces Deployment

Residents of North Kordofan on Monday noted a substantial rise in both RSF and army concentration across towns and villages throughout the state.

Both armed factions are contesting control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan provincial capital and a important strategic and command base that joins Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have gathered at the Bara front here," commented an RSF member in a recently shared video declaration.

Regional Citizens Detail Security Concerns

A resident of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, stated that the amount of RSF vehicles had grown considerably since the group's capture of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, fearing fighting," the resident commented.

Another inhabitant, who sought confidentiality for protection purposes, also confirmed that "there has been a substantial growth in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the previous fortnight.

International Concerns and Calls

A senior UN official sounded warnings last week about "extensive crimes" and "ethnically motivated reprisals" by RSF in Bara.

The diplomat cautioned about patterns echoing those in Darfur, where RSF fighters have been accused of mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against certain racial groups.

The religious leader on Sunday appealed for an prompt truce and the opening of humanitarian corridors in Sudan, saying that attacks on civilians and impediments to humanitarian aid "are creating unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's ambassador to Egypt on Sunday accused RSF of committing war crimes in El Fasher and stated that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the militia organization.

The ambassador further encouraged the international community to categorize the group as a terrorist group.
