Between 2020 and August 2025, 213 children vanished from care facilities for this group, with 182 located and 32 remaining vanished.

Nationality Breakdown of Missing Children

In the two scenarios, Albanian children were the biggest contingent to vanish, accounting for half the aggregate from the facilities, 68, and more than a quarter from the care facilities, 65.

The second and third largest ethnic groups to have vanished from each location are Afghan nationals subsequently Iranian nationals.

An additional official commented: "The security and care of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children stays important, and we take children going missing very gravely. We continue to periodically examine our procedures for developments if this occurs, distributing relevant information with area authorities and district officials looking into the situation."
