Recent Particulars Emerge About the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies

Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.

A Alarm

A source indicates quoting a confidential source, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the home. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.

Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, along with the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now detained and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The confidential informant also disputed several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.

Additionally disputed widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement also extends to descriptions of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
