Federal agents declared on Monday that they had effectively disrupted a comprehensive scheme to explode bombs at several locations belonging to two US-based businesses on New Year's Eve in Southern California. This action resulted from the detainment of suspects part of an radical faction espousing anti-capitalist and anti-establishment views.

Suspects Apprehended During Remote Dry Run

A quartet of individuals were detained last Friday in the remote area found east of Los Angeles at the time they were according to officials rehearsing their intended attack. Authorities said that one of the individuals had created a meticulous plan last month to attack five or more business locations across Southern California on New Year's Eve. The targets were characterized as "similar to Amazon" distribution hubs.

"The plan was specific," an official remarked. "It included step-by-step instructions to construct explosive devices … and identified several targets across the county of Orange and Los Angeles."

As per the investigation and the complaint, the scheme entailed placing backpacks filled with intricate explosive devices that were set to be exploded simultaneously at midnight on New Year's Eve at 5 places. New Year's Eve was chosen as an perfect time since the plan indicated "fireworks will be going off at this time so blast noises will be more difficult to be detected."

The eight-page longhand blueprint, titled "OPERATION MIDNIGHT SUN," suggested that additional targets could be incorporated. The facilities were described as premises and facilities operated by two separate corporations involved in business involving interstate and foreign commerce.

The complaint states that the suspects "all brought IED parts to the location, such as various sizes of plastic pipes, identified as a chemical compound, charcoal briquettes, fuel powder, sulfur powder, and components to be used as fuses, among others."

The plan also had guidance on how to build the explosives and how to not leave behind traces that could be traced back to the faction. The suspects had not long ago purchased chemical ingredients and other goods, including purchases from major websites.

Apprehension and Subsequent Actions

Authorities moved in last week while the individuals were practicing the operation in the desert near a California town. "They owned everything they required to build an functional explosive device at that site," the prosecutor commented.

During executed searches, authorities allegedly found signs for the Turtle Island Liberation Front at one accused's home that demanded "America Must Fall", and "Death to ICE". At another suspect's home, police found a duplicate of the elaborate attack blueprint.

The suspects were taken into custody peacefully. They were due to face a judge in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.
